FORADADA is inspired by the legend of the Roca Foradada of Montserrat. It is a risky piece that uses a hybrid language, where the protagonist travels through her own prisons. With an uncomfortable body, wicker baskets, acrobatics and leather, a song of dissidence is proposed, calling for the right to exist.
Legend has it that whoever is able to cross the Roca Foradada with a basket full of water, without even a drop being emptied, men become women and women become men.
Àfrica Llorens, born in Igualada, grew up in Tous (a small town in Anoia) until she was 22 years old. Then he went to the city to study, where he fell deeply in love with the circus, which is what will shape his artistic career to this day. Along the way, he met Amer, with whom he learned the hand-to-hand technique and they created several short pieces. They are known for ENVÀ, the show where they mix 250 kg of straw and 125 kg of human mass. With Amer and thanks to ENVÀ, he creates his first long piece with which they travel through Catalonia, the peninsula and Europe for 5 years, performing at festivals, theaters, cities, meetings, artists, spaces, cultural initiatives... that will enrich the artistic, professional and personal view of Africa. Before ENVÀ he participated as an artist in the 19th winter circus of Ateneu 9 Barris and as a performer in the show BLOCK of NofitState Circus and Motionhouse. In recent years he has been able to participate as an agile performer in the French companies XY in the show MOBIUS and currently also in l'Immediat with LEVITATION RÉELL. In addition, and in parallel with ENVÀ, he studies cultural management and production of shows and festivals, which broadens the vision of cultural events and the role of artists and all people around culture. He organizes all possible events, helping the Ateneu 9 Barris whenever he can, whether in production or artistic commission. Since 2018, at the Central del Circ he has co-organized the Trobada de Mans a Mans for 6 years, among other events.
